We search for local and global challenges, develop proposals for their solutions, and test them in our environment.
Borders between countries and continents are changing; worldwide internet has reshaped our civilisation into one global village. In this workshop, we navigate confidently between cultures to find a connection between the world and ourselves.
The Global Competencies Workshop introduces the whole world to us. If we wish to, we may learn about using the underground in Japan or even about hunting seals in the Arctic.
We try to understand the characteristics of each culture. What makes them similar or different? What are their historical, social, linguistic, geographical, political, and economical backgrounds? We learn that the world does not end outside the city or outside the country.
We believe that if we come to know a person, country, or culture, and we are able to see the connections throughout the global world, then we become sensible, empathic, and tolerant.
We search for local and global challenges, develop proposals for their solutions, and test them in our environment. We learn about local and intercultural problems and learn to value other views about the world. We will be able to build relationships between cultures and learn to take steps towards collective well-being and sustainability.
